Young Growth Forest Management
Much information is emerging relative to the aging and management of young forests
as they grow and respond to various silvicultural treatments. In particular, the potential
amount of forbs and shrubs produced is much greater than has been modeled in previous
forest planning efforts. Management and monitoring of the matrix part of the conservation
strategy could have important implications for deer, wolves, small mammals, birds and
other species. Presentations on new information, ongoing studies/research, and monitoring
approaches are planned.
